We work closely with government to support its welfare reform agenda: ‘helping people move into and progress in work, while supporting the most vulnerable’.
Department for Work and Pensions
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is key to welfare reform. It is the largest public service delivery department in the UK, serving more than 20 million customers. Atos is deeply involved in many areas of its work.
We improve service to the public. More than 20 million citizens and businesses transact with government departments using the Atos managed Government Gateway – confident in its secure handling of sensitive data and payments.
Claimants get fast and efficient access to radical new programmes available from the DWP, resulting from Atos’ development and maintenance support for DWP’s customer facing applications. Some of these pathways – such as Universal Credit – are critical for helping people back into work and tackling the causes of poverty.
We support the Department’s efforts to drive disability equality. Disability assessments for benefit eligibility are transformed by Atos-delivered business process outsourcing services. We are handling 1.2 million referrals a year and six million face-to-face assessments across 142 locations.
The DWP recognises our reputation as the UK's leading occupational health service provider. We provide OH services to 110,000 members of its staff.
Social Security Agency (Northern Ireland)
The Agency’s main role is to assess and pay benefits to the citizens of Northern Ireland securely and accurately.
Atos supports the Agency in delivering a core service: medical assessments to make sure claimants are eligible for benefits.
We provide large scale medical business process outsourcing services, handling more than a million referrals a year and 75,000 face-to-face assessments across 11 locations.
Skills Development Scotland
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is dedicated to improving skills – critical to employment levels and the competitiveness of Scottish industry.
We provide world class IT shared services to SDS and its partner agencies: Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and the Scottish Criminal Case Review Commission
Delivered through our highly resilient and secure shared service data centre and service and support centres across Scotland, the result is 40% cost savings in like-for-like services. We also ensure that the agencies retain valuable skills through transfer of staff to Atos.
The shared services project is leading to highly innovative spin offs. Atos and SDS have developed a new web service, My World of Work, where individuals can self-serve to develop skills, answer training needs and build contacts. 100,000 registered users, and 170,000 user visits per month are expected for the website.
