Ursula Morgenstern, Global Head of Consulting and Systems Integration at Atos, wins prestigious Woman of the Year Award at last night’s Women in IT Awards

Ursula Morgenstern, Global Head of Consulting and Systems Integration at Atos, an international leader in digital services, has been named “Woman of the Year” at the Women in IT awards last night, technology’s largest diversity event.

The event, organised by business-technology magazine Information Age, showcased the achievements and innovation of women in technology over the last 12 months, identifying new role models and promoting further dialogue around diversity among industry influencers.

Ursula commented: “I was honoured to be named woman of the year at the Women in IT Awards. I would like to thank Salesforce for sponsoring the awards but foremost to thank employees and colleagues for their support.

“I’m passionate about encouraging young people to consider all the career options open to them including in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas. This is just one of the ways we can look to address the pipeline for women considering careers in our industry in order to ensure we are moving towards a more diverse future

“As leaders in our field it is incumbent upon us to recognise and raise the profile of the numerous female role models that are already out there doing excellent work. I look forward to seeing what the next generation of female role models will bring. We all know that diversity makes absolute business sense.”

Ursula was awarded the title for leading the way in her industry to encourage more women to consider careers in technology. She was also recognised for championing Atos’ graduate and apprenticeship scheme. Over the last two years, under her leadership, the number of interns taken on by Atos has increased by over 300%, highlighting her commitment to developing young people.

Ben Rossi, who chaired the judges meeting and created the Women in IT Awards as Editorial Director of Information Age, said “Woman of the Year is one of the most hotly contested categories with some incredible women shortlisted. However, Ursula has proved herself to be a force to be reckoned with in the technology industry, displaying a formidable record as a business leader while making considerable efforts to advocate women in IT. This recognition is thoroughly deserved.”

After an incredibly successful three years as CEO of Atos UK & Ireland, Ursula was promoted to Global Head of Consulting and Systems Integration at Atos in July 2015.

One of the other areas Ursula was actively involved in was Atos’ pioneering ‘zero email initiative’ as a way to improve productivity and improve employee wellbeing. As a result of this programme internal email reduced by 70% with additional business benefits such as a strengthened Wellbeing at Work Programme, improved internal processes, faster customer responsiveness and problem solving. The initiative has also helped new joiners and with company mergers in getting people involved in the wider community much faster.

Ursula is also a keen supporter of The Prince’s Trust and sits on their technology board.
