Atos new SME Harbour programme delivers first contract win

London, 28th May 2014

Atos, an international IT services company, has today announced its SME Harbour programme and its first contract win with partner Transversal as part of this. Suffolk County Council has signed up to a scalable digital solution that will be delivered through this partnership and provide knowledge solutions across a number of key service areas within the council.

Davin Yap, CEO and founder of Transversal said, “The public sector has been a key focus for us over the past few years and we are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work with a major industry player like Atos. We are confident that this partnership will assist the public sector in achieving their goals in channel shifting to meet the modern citizen’s requirements.”

Ursula Morgenstern, CEO Atos UK & I said: “As a strategic supplier to Government we are well-placed to support SMEs in this way. Small and Medium Enterprises are critical to the economy and promoting growth and it is a Government ambition that more begin to deliver services for Government. We are able to provide them with the safe environment they need from which to succeed. There is room for all types and sizes of business in the marketplace and we can help each other to succeed.”

The Atos SME Harbour programme has been set up to enable a simpler, safe and transparent way for Atos to partner with small and medium sized enterprises. It offers a range of support services to SMEs including coaching to help them better understand Government’s commercial arrangements and terms and conditions, advice on understanding Government structure and working practises, information on risk management and access to market trends and research. Practical support may also be available through access to IT infrastructure and office space.

Atos is currently reaching out to the wider SME and technology innovation community and are forming relationships with a range of Academic Institutions, Innovation Hubs and Clusters in order to partner with organisations who will offer cutting-edge innovation and solutions to customers across the public and private sector.

The SME Harbour initiative is in line with the Coalition Programme for Government which has made a commitment to get full value for money from SME suppliers and set an aspiration that at least 25% of Government spend is flowing to SMEs by the end of Parliament (2015), directly and indirectly through the supply chain.

SMEs who are interested in understanding more about this programme, hearing from other partners who are part of the programme and applying to join the SME Harbour can visit.
