Atos and Yodel shortlisted for prestigious MCA Awards

Atos, an international IT services company and Yodel, the UK’s leading parcel delivery company, has been shortlisted for the MCA Awards in the technology category.

The MCA Awards have now been running for 15 years and are the benchmark for quality within the consulting industry. They are the ideal way to demonstrate and recognise the value of consulting and celebrate clients and consultants working together to achieve the best results.

The awards will take place on Thursday 19 April 2012 at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.

The successful partnership between the two companies began in 2010 when Home Delivery Network (HDNL) acquired DHL Domestic. This major deal meant that DHL Domestic’s employees and facilities transferred to HDNL, effectively doubling the size of the company, which subsequently rebranded as Yodel.

Atos was selected as Yodel’s IT partner to ensure that all technology from DHL Domestic was effectively and seamlessly separated from its former parent company – with minimal impact. Atos consultants brought the knowledge, experience, creativity and rigour necessary to resolve complex multi-dimensional issues. The team included programme managers, technical architects, business analysts and supply-chain specialists.

To support Yodel’s vision to be an innovative, customer focused and dynamic parcel delivery business, Atos identified the need for three new shipping tools. These capture all the necessary details (sender, destination and service) log them, route the parcel and print the labels (including barcodes). These systems were built from scratch in parallel with separation and in line with very aggressive deadlines.

Yodel’s market leading shipping tools are now enabling the business to achieve its ambition to be a leading innovator at the forefront of the UK logistics industry. Delivering over 200 million parcels per year with annual revenues of £650 million, Yodel is the UK’s leading parcel delivery company and offers the widest range of services in the market.

Colin Franklin, Head of Finance Leadership Consulting, Atos said: “We are really excited that the work we did with Yodel has been shortlisted for the highly esteemed MCA Awards. In a recessionary market, with no options to use any existing IT, the timeframes were aggressive. In an organisation that was separating, integrating and transforming simultaneously, the complexities were huge. However, our partnership has added real value to Yodel’s business and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with them.”

Greg Smith, CIO, Yodel said: “We are delighted that Atos’ work with Yodel has been shortlisted for the MCA Awards. It’s a great testament to the partnership between the two companies. Atos’ clear thinking cut through complexity and enabled Yodel’s executive to properly monitor progress and focus on those areas that mattered most. Atos communicated in a style that brought the key stakeholders who were critical to our success along with us.”
