Year of graduation: 2012
University: Durham University
Atos start date: September 2012
Job title: Finance Graduate
I joined Atos because I wanted to gain experience of working within a large, global organisation where I would be given real responsibilities from the start within a well-defined role. My aim was to gain experience of working within a fast paced, challenging industry that has a lot of opportunities for progression within my chosen career path. Atos has offered all of this to me as well as excellent study support and sponsorship to gain relevant accounting qualifications and a very strong graduate community with regular social and networking events.
My job summed up
I work really closely with experienced Accounting and Finance professionals as well as Atos project Managers across the business. I work on everything from P&L reviews and project cost reviews to month end activities – looking at revenue and cost base. I speak a lot with Project Managers about projects and their revenue and I’m able to see the impact of what we do on how we operate with our clients which is really interesting.
Key account P&L review –reporting on a detailed analysis of cost and revenue of projects to date, identifying driving factors of variances against assumptions made in the business case for review with project managers.
Month end activities - talking to project managers analysing and managing cost base, discussing revenue recognition and talking about in month business issues which may have driven variances.
Talking to project managers about new projects coming on board in the near future, how this revenue will be recognised across the duration of the lifecycle of the project and elements of risk associated with the project. Building strong relationships with project managers and working with them to help solve finance issues as well as aiding them with finance processes such as invoicing.
