All your questions answered

If you can’t find the answers to your questions, contact our apprentice recruitment team at recruitment@atos.net

What are we looking for?

You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs / Scottish National 5’s or equivalent at 4-9 / A-C grade (including Maths and English) for all schemes, plus two A levels for our level 4 schemes. A strong interest in IT is essential – but we’ll train you in everything you need to know, so you won’t necessarily need to have any technical expertise if you’re looking at one of our more business-oriented roles.

Some of our schemes may have particular additional entry requirements (eg. varying number of GSCE’s / particular subjects of study). Please refer to the individual scheme pages for any additional entry requirements.

We’re most interested in passionate people who are great team players, committed to solving problems and making things better – even without being asked. If you’re not afraid to make mistakes and ready to rise to the challenge of an amazing career, then what we’re looking for is you.

What is the closing date for applications?

For our application closing dates, please visit our apply page. We recommend applying – our popular schemes fill up fast! Our assessment centres occur throughout the year and we may start to fill roles before the closing date.

I haven’t taken my exams yet – can I still apply?

We can accept your application even if you’re waiting for exam results, based on your predicted grades; so apply now as spaces fill up quickly. It’s also worth keeping an eye on our website for new opportunities that may arise later in the year.

What does the recruitment process involve?

First, you’ll need to submit your application. If you’re successful, we’ll call to prepare you for our online test. You’ll then be asked to undertake an online test, which includes numerical, verbal and logical reasoning, as well as a personality profile, aligned to the Atos values. If you pass this stage, you’ll be invited to an online video interview. If we think you’ve got what we’re looking for, you’ll be invited to an assessment centre day, after which we’ll select our candidates for each role.

For more information on the process, and what you can do to succeed, visit our application process page.

Will there be any costs associated with becoming an apprentice?

One of the advantages of our Apprentice Schemes is that the cost of your training will be completely covered – you won’t be charged a penny – not even for books and materials! We’ll give you time away from the day job to attend your training and also reimburse you for any travel to a QA training centre.

When will I start?

Our scheduled intake for 2020 is September, although it may be possible to start earlier, depending on which part of the business you join. Apply now as we fill vacancies on a rolling basis and spaces fill up quickly.

What’s your equality and diversity policy?

We are 100% committed to being an inclusive employer. All employees at Atos take personal responsibility for inclusivity which not only underpins our business decisions, but is essential to our growth ambitions. We believe that how we attract, hire, and support every individual at Atos – in the spirit of togetherness – will be what truly make us a great and exciting place to work.

The Atos Diversity Networks support our goals by recognising, developing and raising awareness around diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Click here for further information about our diversity networks.

Are all applications online?

Yes, please apply online. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we have to manage all applications in one place and can’t accept paper applications or CVs. Let us know if you’re having problems applying due to a disability, and we’ll ensure you’re able to complete your application.

What is the salary and benefits package?

Apprentice salaries start at £14,000 (£16,000 in London) for Level 2 and Level 3 schemes or £16,000 (£18,000 in London) for Level 4 schemes. The package includes 25 days’ holiday, private medical insurance, a pension plan, and a range of flexible benefits. Please see our benefits page for full details of our reward package.

What training do you provide?

Read more about our training and development here.

Do you accept speculative applications?

We don’t accept speculative applications for our apprentice programmes. But you can register your interest in future apprenticeship opportunities, or apply direct.

Do you accept applications from non-UK apprentices?

We welcome applications from any candidate, regardless of background or country of study, in accordance with our equal opportunities policy.

In line with UK apprenticeship entry requirements, you’ll need to have been living in the UK for 3 years, and you need to have finished full-time education by your starting date – so you can still apply, even if you haven’t finished your exams yet.

We do not offer visa sponsorships so you need to have the right to work in the UK, and some of our roles may require you to have been a resident in the UK for at least 5 years, due to security clearance requirements.

Can I still apply if I have a degree?

If you have started at university, but decided it isn’t for you, an Apprenticeship could be the right alternative. If you have completed your degree, you won’t be eligible for an Atos Apprenticeship, but we think you’d be more suited to our Graduate Programme. Check here for more information.
