Tom studied Business Information Systems at Liverpool John Moores University and joined our SAP graduate scheme.

I heard about the Atos graduate scheme through my university. The more I found out, the more I liked the sound of it. As a leading IT service provider, they could offer a great deal of opportunities to work with large clients in various roles across the country and possibly Europe too.

I’d previously had a work placement in a Business Information environment, so I’d gained knowledge of data warehousing and management reporting. I decided to build on that by applying to become a member of the SAP team at Atos, specifically targeting a role in Business Information.

In my first 18 months on the graduate programme, I’ve worked as a service manager – developing relationships with customers, managing high-priority incident calls and running service reviews. I’ve also worked on internal pre-sales projects to improve our SAP solution offerings to the manufacturing industry.

So far, I’ve mainly worked at consumer goods companies. That’s included projects at some of the largest food makers in the country, as well as a long stint at one of the world’s largest breweries. I’ve been lucky to develop my skills by working with some of the country’s most skilful SAP consultants – and I’ve been given the technical training I need to become certified and feel confident in the role.

I believe the main advantage of the graduate programme at Atos is the sheer range of opportunities on offer. The flexibility of the company and the people around you also means your chosen role does not need to be your final one.
