Najam Kazmi

Najam studied BSc Business & Management at Queen Mary University London, and an MSc in Business & Management from Kings College London.

When I joined Atos Healthcare in October 2010, I was promised real responsibilities, exposure to senior management, development opportunities, welcoming staff, and chances to improve the business… And that’s exactly what I’ve experienced.

My first placement was in the DWP customer relations team, as a team leader responsible for investigating complaints. My duties included managing a team of four staff who responded to MP enquiries, letters from the General Medical Council and queries from other established bodies.

I was also tasked as a project manager to analyse, design and implement a new process to achieve efficiency savings concerning the length of time taken to complete an investigation. I had to prepare a report outlining the findings and recommendations. This gave me fantastic exposure to senior people, not only within our business but within the DWP too. This process is now in place and the report is being used to train new staff.

My next placement was in the Occupational Health arm of our business, specifically in Business Transformation. My duties here were to add new innovative services to our portfolio, assist in improving our commercial relationships with our suppliers, carry out market analysis and enhance our delivery of medical services to one of our largest clients.

This has been a much more strategic placement, which has allowed me to influence a) what we deliver b) how we deliver it and c) how much it costs us to deliver via suppliers. I have gained priceless exposure to senior management, allowing me to learn at close quarters the skills needed in senior positions. My time here has developed my commercial, people, solutions and project management skills.

My current placement is back in the DWP arm of our business, managing Medical Examination Centres (MEC). I’ll be accountable for over 15 staff across four sites. My duties will be to ensure the MECs are operating optimally and delivering the highest levels of customer service.

Exposure, real responsibilities, supportive staff, development opportunities – all of them are available on the Atos Healthcare Graduate Scheme. If you’re willing to learn, work hard and drive improvements, then Atos Healthcare is an ideal company to bring out the best in you.
