Greg joined our graduate programme after studying Digital Media Technology at Nottingham Trent University.

I was looking to develop my IT skills on a formal graduate scheme within a multinational business. So I felt fortunate to be offered an opportunity with Atos and joined in May 2010.

For the first six months, I worked in Wolverhampton on several contracts deploying software and security updates to our clients’ employees and regularly communicating with internal and external customers. It’s been a great experience, because it’s helped me network with other Atos employees and also gain more understanding of how the business operates.

My current role is in the Desktop Operations team, which is part of Managed Operations in Crewe. I’ve been working on our largest government contract, managing the Anti-Virus infrastructure and looking after Asset Management tools.

Atos are excellent at helping their graduates to develop new skills. Since the tooling used in my role was new to me, I was sent on a week’s training course to develop my knowledge and skills so I could get started immediately. I’ve also had opportunities to gain professional qualifications and I’m now on my way to achieving two Microsoft Certifications in Windows 7 and Server 2008 Administration.

The most valuable piece of advice I could offer is to get involved with any opportunities that present themselves and to build up your network of contacts within the company. If you want to work for a company that strives for success and offers support and training, then definitely apply for the Atos graduate scheme.
